ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of multistep breathing training combined with acupoint plastering on the treatment of patients with occupational coal worker's pneumoconiosis(CWP). METHODS: Eighty cases of male occupational CWP patients were selected as the research subject using convenient sampling method. They were divided into control group(40 cases) and treatment group(40 cases) according to random number table method. The control group was given conventional treatment, while the treatment group received multistep respiratory training combined with acupoint plastering for 12 weeks based on conventional symptomatic treatment. Before and after treatment, clinical curative effect, pulmonary function, immune function, the total score of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Assessment Test(CAT) Questionnaire and 6 minutes walk distance(6 MWDS) in two groups were observed. RESULTS: Before treatment, there was no statistical difference on forced vital capacity(FVC), ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV_1)/FVC, lymphocyte cluster of differentiation(CD) 4~+/CD8~+ ratio, percentage of natural killer cells(NK), total CAT scores and 6 MWD(P>0.05). After treatment, the FVC, FEV_1/FVC ratio and lymphocyte CD4~+/CD8~+ ratio increased [median: 78.3% vs 80.7%, 68.7% vs 72.5%, 1.16 vs 2.00, P<0.01], 6 MWD was increased [(430.6±45.9) vs(494.8±58.7) m, P<0.01], and CAT total score was decreased [(18.1±5.6) vs(15.5±5.3) points, P<0.01] in the treatment group compared with the control group. There was no significant difference in NK cell percentage between the two groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Multistep respiratory training combined with acupoint plastering can alleviate the clinical symptoms such as cough, and shortness of breath of patients with CWP, improve their lung function, regulate the function of immunity, as well as improve sports endurance.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effects of early postoperative enteral nutrition on recovery of patients with gastric cancer.Methods:Sixty-five cases of patients with gastric cancer were randomized into early enteral nutrition (EEN) group and enteral nutrition (EN) group.Serum total protein (TB),albumin(ALB),Prealbumin,white blood cell count (WBC),C-reactive protein (CRP),immunoglobulin,peripheral T-lymphocyte subsets,gastrointestinal recovery time,hospital stay and cost were recorded.The nutritional and cellular immunity parameters of the EEN group on 7th day after operation were higher than those of the EN group.Inflammatory response of the EEN group on 3th day after operation was lower than EN group.EEN group showed better immunological response and clinical recovery than the EN group (P < 0.05).Conclusion:Early enteral nutrition in postoperative gastric cancer patients can improve early postoperative nutritional status and immune function,alleviate inflammatory response,promote the recovery of intestinal function and shorten hospital stay.

ABSTRACT

The chemical components reached 138 types in Eucommia ulmoides, including mainly lignans, iridoids, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, polysaccharides, gutta-percha, and antifungal protein. Modern pharmacological actions included lowering blood pressure, enhancing immunity function, reducing blood fat, lowering blood sugar, protecting liver, cholagogic, diuresis, protecting nerve cells, regulating bone metabolism, tonifying kidney and so on. Research progress on E. ulmoides was reviewed in the fields of chemical components, pharmacological actions and quality status. The quality status analysis found that some E. ulmoides on sale was not up to the pharmacopoeia standard, and processing methods have effect on the quality for E. ulmoides.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observed the influence of preoperative enteral nutrition(EN) on postoperative nutritional status,immune function and complications in elderly patients with colorectal cancer complicating nutritional risk.Methods The NRS2002 nutritional risk screening criteria was used to select 70 elderly patients with colorectal cancer complicating nutritional risk,including 36 cases in the EN group and 34 cases in the control group.The EN support was given in the ENN group on preoperative 3 d.The levels of plasma total protein,prealbumin,albumin,transferrin,total lymphocyte count,plasma D-lactate(D-LAC) and plasma diamine oxidase (DAO) were detected on postoperative 1,3,5 7 d.The intraoperative intestinal cleanliness and postoperative complications were observed.Results The levels of plasma total protein,prealbumin,albumin,transferrin and total lymphocyte count in the EN group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the levels of D-LAC and DAO,and the incidence rates of abdominal infection and wound infection were significantly lower than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant differences in the incidence rates of intestinal cleanliness and anastomotic leakage between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Preoperative EN support therapy in the patients with colorectal cancer complicating nutritional risk can significantly improve clinical prognosis.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of alanyl-glutamine dipeptide-intensified early enteral nutrition (EN) sup-port on nutritional indexes,immune indexes,renal indexes and complications of sepsis patients. METHODS:A total of 112 cases of sepsis admitted into our hospital during May 2013-Jan. 2015 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to random number table,with 56 cases in each group. Both groups received routine antibiotic therapy and early EN support(48 h)with nitrogen supplement 0.2 g/kg,calories 25 kcal/kg and nonprotein calories 19-21 kcal/kg each day. Observation group was additionally given Alanyl-glutamine for injection 0.5 g/kg with 0.9% sodium chloride injection 100 mL,continuous pump within 24 h,for 4 d. The levels of nutritional indexes (ALB,PAB,Hb),immune indexes (CRP,IgG,IgA and IgM), APACHEⅡ scores,SOFA scores,liver and renal function indexes (the levels of ALT,AST,Cr and BUN) were compared be-tween 2 groups before and after treatment. The prognosis and the occurrence of complication were also observed in 2 groups. RE-SULTS:Before treatment,there was no statistical significance in the levels of ALB,PAB,Hb,CRP,IgG,IgA,IgM,ALT, AST,Cr,BUN and APACHEⅡ scores,SOFA scores between 2 groups(P>0.05). After treatment,the levels of ALB and PAB in observation group were increased significantly compared to before treatment,and the observation groups was significantly higher than control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). APACHEⅡ score and SOFA score of 2 groups were decreased significantly compared to before treatment,and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group,with statis-tical significance(P<0.05). CRP of 2 groups were decreased significantly while IgG were increased significantly;the observa-tion group was significantly better than the control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). Cr and BUN levels of 2 groups were decreased significantly compared to before treatment,and the level of Cr in observation group was significantly con-trol group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). The time of ICU stay,ventilator supporting time and antibiotics application time in observation group were significantly shorter than control group,and the incidence of diarrhea and gastric retention were significantly lower than control group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Alanyl-glutamine dipeptide-in-tensified early EN support can significantly improve immune function and liver and renal function of sepsis patients and reduce the occurrence of complications.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effects of exposure to MALs on immunity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in human alveolar macrophages .Methods Plate counting were used to evaluate the effect of resisting Mycobacterium tuberculosis in human alveolar macrophages .Culture supernatants were harvested and human TNF‐α was measured by ELISA kit .Total nitrite levels in the media were measured using the Griess reagent .Results MALs stimulation attenuated the control of intracellular mycobacterial growth in human alveolar macrophages .The production of proinflammatory cytokines TNF‐α and Nitric oxide in human alveolar macrophages induced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis purified protein derivatives tuberculin (Mt‐PPD) and human interferonγwere attenuated by pretreatment in vitro with MALs .Conclusion MALs attenuated the responses of human alveolar macrophages a‐gainst Mycobacterium tuberculosis ,which may provide the new evidence to explain the phenomena in which some component of Mycobacteria in environment impacts the immunity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection .

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the inhibitory effect of Fuzheng Xiaoliu Decoction (FXD) on cerebral glioma. Methods: Rat glioma orthotopic transplantation model was established by inoculating C6 glioma cells to brain right caudate nucleus in situ of Wistar rats, and the rats in treatment group were ig administered with FXD for consecutive 14 d. After the last administration, blood was taken to measure whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity, serum immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, and IgM), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-2 (IL-2), and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) levels; All rats were sacrificed after last administration to collect whole blood; The brain was taken and weighed, brain index was calculated, tumor length and short diameters were measured, and tumor volume and inhibitory rate were calculated; The tumor tissue was taken, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels were determined. Results: All three doses (1.2, 2.4, and 3.6 g/kg) of FXD could inhibit rat glioma tumor volume. It could reduce the contents of IGF-1, PGE2, VEGF in tumor tissue and serum IgG, elevated the level of serum IgA, IgM, TNF-α, IL-2, and IFN-γ to varying degrees. FXD (3.6 g/kg) can reduce whole blood viscosity at low shear (P < 0.05, 0.01). Conclusion: FXD has significant antitumor effect on C6 glioma, and the mechanism of antitumor effect may be the inhibition of tumor angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation, enhancing immune response, and reducing blood viscosity.

ABSTRACT

A total of 55 cases of advanced schistosomiasis patients combined with Ⅲ-grade hepatic fibrosis and ascites were randomized into a splenectomy group and non-splenectomy group. The peripheral vein blood phlebotomized from these patients were detected for leucocytes, hematids, thrombocytes, acidophils, glutamic-pyruvic transaminase,alkaline phosphatase,albumin, total bilirubin,three-type precollagen, fore-type collagen, hyaluronic acid, IgG, IgA, C_3, C_4 and the sub-group of lymphocytes such as CD3、CD4、 CD8 、CD56 + 16. There were no significant difference on hepatic function and the level of hepatic fibrosis between the groups above metioned. It could be found that leucocytes, thrombocytes, IgG, IgA, CD56 + 16 increased while CD3, CD4, and albumin decreased in the splenectomy group. In conclusion, leucocytes and thrombocytes increase after splenectomy, cytoimmunity declines and humoral immunity enhances.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of nitrobenzene on macrophage function and lymphocyte proliferation in mice. Methods ICR mice were divided into groups and treated with nitrobenzene by gavage,once a day,at doses of 2,20 and 200 mg/kg respectively,for 21 consecutive days.The mice were killed after 21 days of treatment and then the effects of nitrobenzene on the organs index,the maerophage function and the lymphocyte proliferation were determined.Results The maerophage function and the lymphocyte proliferation decreased as the increase of the dose of nitrobenzene.Conclusion The results of the present paper show that nitrobenzene may inhibit the immunity function of mice.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the effects of intestinal flora dysregulation induced by antibiotic on immune function and toll-like receptor(TLR)2,4.Methods:Sixty BALB/c mice were divided into two groups:antibiotic and control group.The mice in antibiotic group were treated with cefoperazone orally for consecutive 7 days.After 7 days,mice were inoculated with Candida albicans.Results:The quantity of Enterobacteriaceae,Enterococcus,Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus in antibiotic therapy group was significantly lower than that in the control group.The quantity of Candida albicans increased in the antibiotic therapy group.Spleen index,lymphocytic transformation rate induced by PHA,delayed-type hypersensitivity and the number of antibody secreting cells,the gene expression of TLR2 and TLR4 mRNA in spleen were lower than those in the control group.Conclusions:The intestinal flora dysregulation induced by antibiotic may decrease the immune function and toll-like receptor 2,4 gene expression in mice.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) on the immunity of patients with advanced primary liver cancer(PLC).Methods Forty cases of PLC admitted to our institution from Mar.2003 to Dec.2003 were included in this study.Patients were divided into 2 groups and received either HIFU or radio-frequency ablation(RFA) treatment randomly.CD3,CD4,CD8,CD4/CD8,NK,IL-2,TNF were chosen to assess the immune status before and after treatment.The results were compared statistically.(Results The) survival rate after HIFU was 80.0%,61.1%,42.9%,33.3% at 3 months,6 months,9 months and 1 year respectively,which was similar to that after RFA treatment.The changes of immunity parameters of CD3,CD4,CD8,CD4/CD8,NK,IL-2 and TNF were not significant after HIFU treatment.In addition,the differences of those parameters between HIFU group and RFA group were insignificant.Conclusion There are no detrimental effects on immunity in the early period after HIFU treatment.

@#Objective To observe the effect of ultraviolet ray on immunity function of patients with cervical spondylopathy. Methods30 cases with cervical spondylopathy were received ultraviolet ray irradiating by the second lumbar vertebra as irradiating center and IgG, IgA, IgM, C3,C4 in blood of cases were tested before and after irradiating. ResultsImmunoglobulins of all cases general decreased after 10 times irradiating, especially IgG (P<0.05), but complements increased. Conclusions The ultraviolet ray irradiation can adjust immunity function of patients with cervical spondylopathy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare psychosocial factors and immune function between patients with breast cancer and benign tumor before operation.Methods:The patients of breast tumor(56 case)were measured by clinical psychological rating scale(EPQ、HAMD、HAMA、LES、SSRS、DSQ)before operation,and their serum levels of IgA, CD_4~+,CD_(19)~+ and the activity of NK cell were measured.The patients of breast tumor were divided into breast cancer group(36 case)and benign tumor group(22 case)bases on results of pathology.Results:In breast cancer group, there were significantly higher scores of neurotic,total and negative life events,immature defense styles,HAMA and HAMD than those in benign tumor group;while NK cell activity,levels of CD_4~+ and CD_(19)~+ and the score of mature defense,social supports,subjective supports and utility degree of supports were marked lower.There were significantly correlation between immune function(NK cell activity,content of CD_4~+,CD_(19)~+,IgA)and psychosocial factors(social support,P score of EPQ,HAMD and HAMA total score,quantity of negative life events etc). Conclusion:Cancer patients had more server psychosocial problems and lower immune function.The immune function of patient with breast cancer before operation is associated with the various psychosocial factors.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the change of erythrocyte immune function and T lymphocyte subsets in patients with uremia and the effect of hemodialysis on them. Methods Flow cytometry and immune adherence rosette method were used to measure the activity of RBC-CR1and the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in 23 uremic patients without hemodialysis, 22 uremic patients before and after sigle hemodialysis and 21 healthy subjects as the control group. Results The activity of RBC-CR1, the number of T lymphocyte subsets significantly changed in patients with uremia, and hemodialysis could partially improve this condition. ABSTRACT

Objective To Study on the immune function of Cedar pollinosis.Methods The radioimmunosorbent test was used to measure IgE and the nephelometry was used to measure serum IgG,IgM,IgA,C3 and C4 levels.Results Total IgE leve in the patients serum was obviously higher than that in the control group,the serum IgG,IgM levels were also higher than those of control group,but the IgA level was no evident difference between two groups,and the serum C3 and C4 levels were lower than that of the control group.Conclusion Combination of a rising serum IE,IgG,IgM and a decreasing serum C3,C4 levels may be a diagnostic marker of cedar pollinosis,periodical determination of immune function for patients with cedar pollinosis could dynamic observe the change of the patients' condition.

Objectives:To explore the effect of total parenteral nutrition support on immunity funtion in critically ill patients . Metheds:60 Cases of critically ill patients were divided into two group(A and B).Group A was treated with the normal regulation treatment.Group B (30 patients) was treated with the normal regulation treatment and total parenteral nutrition support treatment for 2 weeks. Results:After the treatment,total lymphocyte and T cell population level in the B group were significantly higher than those in the A group ( P 0.05). Conclusions:Total parenteral nutrition support treatment can significantly improve the immunity function in the critically ill patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of polysaccharide extracted from Yangwei Mixture on immunologic functions in mice.Method Immuno-suppressant mice model was established by intraperitoneal injection of CTX.The effects of the polysaccharide were observed through phagocytosis test of mice celiac macrophagocyte and serum hemolysin level test as well as lymphocyte transformation test.Result The polysaccharide can obviously increase the percentage of phagocytosis of mice celiac macrophagocyte,accelerate the formation of hemolysin and promote the lymphocyte transformation.Conclusion Polysaccharide extracted from Yangwei Mixture is a good immuno-stimulant,and can counteract the immuno-suppression induced by CTX.

Objective:To prove the pharmacological action of Qingfei Capsules.Methods: Some tests such as suppressing cough, dispelling phlegm, calming panting, anti-inflammation, anti-virus, its effects on the nonspecific immunity and cellular immunity of mice were carried out. Results: Qingfei Capsules could prolong the incubation period of cough, wheezing and panting, possess the actions of dispelling phlegm and inhibiting inflammation, raise the nonspecific immunity of body, promote humoral immunity, and raise the cellular immune function.Conclusions: These results provide a basis for clinical application of Qingfei Capsules.
